Basement Renovations in Muskoka
An unfinished basement is often the most practical place to add living space to a Muskoka home or cottage. From our base in Bracebridge, Hull Interior Finishings renovates lower levels into rec rooms, guest rooms, home offices and family space for clients in Bracebridge, Huntsville, Gravenhurst, Port Carling, Rosseau and nearby.
A basement renovation comes together in layers: walls and ceilings, flooring and tile, then paint and finishing details. We manage the project from walk-through to completion and coordinate trusted trades when electrical or plumbing is needed, so you have one point of contact. Estimates are free. Call (705) 645-0942 or send drawings or photos through the form below. Monday to Friday, 7am–6pm.
Basement Living Spaces
On arrival we walk the unfinished or partly finished lower level with you—ceiling height, moisture concerns, stair access, and how you want to use the space (rec room, guest suite, office or family room).
Prep: protect stairs and main-floor finishes, confirm layout, and stage materials for walls and ceilings.
Work: hang and finish drywall, set flooring and tile where included, and bring in coordinated trades for electrical or plumbing when the plan calls for it.
Finish: paint and trim so the new rooms match the standard of the rest of the house.
Cleanup: construction debris removed; the lower level left ready to furnish.
You receive finished basement living space planned around how you will actually use it.
Floors, Tile & Finishes
On arrival we review subfloor condition, moisture, and which floor and tile finishes belong in a lower level.
Prep: level and prepare the substrate; protect completed walls.
Work: install flooring and tile level and clean, with walls and ceilings finished to match.
Finish: paint and detailing so the basement reads as finished living space, not a leftover utility area.
Cleanup: offcuts and dust removed from the work area.
You receive lower-level floors, tile and finishes installed to the same standard as the floors above.
Part of a Bigger Renovation
On arrival we map how the basement connects to other work upstairs—kitchen, bathroom or whole-home updates—so sequencing makes sense.
Prep: one scope and schedule across the rooms included in the renovation.
Work: we manage the basement as part of that larger plan, with the same crew and coordinated trades.
Finish: materials and paint choices stay consistent from floor to floor.
Cleanup: the whole job is handed over tidy, not room by room in isolation.
You receive a basement that fits cleanly into a larger home or cottage renovation. See our home and cottage renovations page to plan the full project.
