Port Carling Drywall & Painting Services
Port Carling sits between Lake Muskoka and Lake Rosseau, close to Lake Joseph, and many properties here are cottages in regular use. Hull Interior Finishings, based in Bracebridge, provides drywall hanging, taping, finishing and repair—plus interior painting—for cottages and homes in and around Port Carling, including nearby communities such as Bala when the job fits our schedule.
Cottage drywall needs clear planning around access and season. We confirm scope on site, hang or repair board, tape and mud, sand to a paint-ready surface, and clean up. On repair work in a finished home we protect floors and nearby finishes before cutting in. Estimates are free. Call (705) 645-0942 or send photos through the form below. Monday to Friday, 7am–6pm.
Drywall Installation & Taping
On arrival we review framing, layout, openings and how new walls will meet existing surfaces so fastening and seams are planned before board goes up.
Prep: clear a working path and stage materials so the hang can move efficiently. On additions and new builds we confirm the substrate is ready to hang.
Work: hang board on walls and ceilings with proper fastening and joint layout. Tape every seam and corner, then build compound in thin coats—bedding, fill and finish—with drying time between coats.
Finish: sand to a smooth, even plane so seams and fasteners stay hidden under paint. Inside and outside corners are kept straight.
Cleanup: scrap and sanding dust are bagged; the room is swept and wiped for the next step.
You receive hung, taped and finished drywall that is ready for primer and paint.
Interior Painting
On arrival we confirm which walls, ceilings, trim, doors and baseboards are included, along with colour and sheen, and what needs protecting in the room.
Prep: floors and furnishings are covered, switch plates come off, small holes are filled, rough spots are sanded, dust is wiped, and stains or bare patches are spot-primed.
Work: cut in at ceilings, corners and trim, then roll open fields in even coats. When ceilings are included they are painted first, then walls, then trim.
Finish: coverage and cut lines are checked under good light and touched up before masking is removed.
Cleanup: plates go back on, protection comes out, and the room is left tidy.
You receive even interior coverage with clean lines on the surfaces we agreed to paint.
Drywall Repair
On arrival we look at each damaged area with you—holes, cracks, nail pops, dents, water-stained board or openings left by old fixtures—and confirm the surrounding board is sound.
Prep: floors are protected, loose material is cut or scraped back to firm board, and a patch or new piece is fitted where the opening needs it.
Work: fasten the repair, tape the joints, and build compound in coats feathered onto the existing wall so the patch does not leave a ridge.
Finish: sand smooth and blend into the surrounding surface until it is paint-ready.
Cleanup: scrap and dust are bagged; the work area is wiped down.
You receive a flat, paint-ready repair. For larger water-damage work or popcorn ceiling removal, see our drywall repair page.
